First Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Talking Alarm
I was hunting on the internet for smoke alarms which could be heard by people with high frequency hearing loss
I initially only found some special alarms made a few years ago which just used a lower tone, by small companies.
In Feb 2008 I discovered a new design, by a standard big manufacturer: FirstAlert talking alarm
This battery powered alarm tells you what the problem is and where.
4 beeps, pause, 4 beeps, voice
Voice = “Warning, evacuate carbon monoxide in [Location, example: “Kitchen”]. Evacuate.” “____ ppm.”
Voice = “Warning, evacuate smoke in [Location, example: “Kitchen”].Evacuate
It uses low-cost AA batteries
It cost $40 to $100, depending on where you buy it: Sears, Amazon, Ace Hardware, etc.
